Congratulations, hand out the cigars – you’re a father! It may not be your first child (it may not even be your second) but it’s another little life which you have created – and have responsibility for – and it goes without saying you intend to take keeping the wee one safe into account no matter what. Unfortunately your shiny sports number isn’t really big enough for a(nother) car seat… What’s a hip young Dad to do?

The answer could come in the form of a used Mini. To begin with, these cars won’t break the bank – definitely worth taking into account when you consider the cost of nappies, milk and the other such paraphernalia a newborn baby needs. As an investment piece the Mini holds its residual value better than any other car in the supermini class, making it a worthwhile purchase in the long run. And, while not the cheapest car to run and repair, the initial outlay of £185 for the TLC package is a very sound investment, covering all routine service costs for the first 5 years (or 50,000 miles)!

Then there’s the safety element. A new generation Mini is both taller and longer than the original Mini, ensuring it meets modern safety standards yet remains compact enough to squeeze in the last spot in front of the playgroup gates, or hop out into the busy traffic of the school run. It has a five star Euro NCAP crash-test rating for true peace of mind, alongside stability control and front, side and full cabin-length airbags. It’s true that the back seats are small, but if your rear passengers are small too it doesn’t matter too much – and it should be noted that the rear seat space has been increased some by the clever sculptural cut-out seating. The boot too is larger, holding a further 10 litres – perfect for family picnics, seaside trips or shoving in the compact buggy and nappy bag. There might even be room left for a few favourite toys…

As far as the mechanics go a used Mini is definitely a good bet. It’s a grown-up car, with its timeless retro stylings, but still has some of that boy racer charm that will keep you young at heart. When it comes to engines, the Mini One 1.4 litre is a bit on the growly side, but gets the job done. If you can stretch to it, a 118 bhp 1.6 litre in a Cooper or Cooper S is well worth the extra money, eliminating all residual growl and rattle, jumping 0-62 in 7.1 seconds and hitting top speeds of 140 mph. And when you’re hitting those top speeds you’ll know about it – alongside the retro toggle controls the dash features a vintage-effect oversized speedometer that can’t fail to grab your attention!

If you’re splashing out you’d do well to add the Sports kit to the mix – not necessarily so much for the aesthetics of the sportier trim and alloy wheels, but for the power steering boost button, aluminium internals for a lighter drive, improved suspension, a new rear axle, harder springs, dampers and anti-roll bars… the list goes on. All together these ensure comfort, power, control – a smooth ride which handles like a dream. Which is what you need hen you’ve a bored child in the back seat!

Overalll, a used Mini is a class act, an investment piece that is just grown-up enough for your needs, but still as fun and funky as your adventurous side dictates. Whatever life throws at you, the Mini can handle it!

As the new number plates have filtered onto our roads I was wondering how important this time of year is for car dealers and indeed the car manufacturers. The 10 plate cars have now been on sale since March 1st with the option of pre-ordering the 10 reg vehicles a few weeks before the launch. Although you may think this time of year is easier for car dealers to sell vehicles because of some customers wanting to be the first to own a brand new car, this year might be an exception to the rule. The problem for car dealers this year is that the government scrappage scheme has now ended. Although many car dealers have used their initiative and created “swappage” schemes which work in a similar way to scrappage scheme just without any government funding. It is still going to be a difficult time for car dealers though as customers seem wary in purchasing a brand new car.

This is particularly the case when you search online for offers. Most of the offers I found were still taking into account the scrappage scheme prices. This might be the case if the car dealer is going to foot the £2000 but most of the dealers I contacted were simply advertising the wrong price. I can imagine it will take time to change these prices but this has only added to consumer confusion.

Even though my job involves information about the car industry I wasn’t fully aware of date of which scrappage ended. The car dealers that I know of also had difficulty knowing the exact date when scrappage ended as many thought it was the end of March. In reality it was around the second week in March that the scheme started to wind down its operation. This has undoubtedly affected sales mainly because car dealers weren’t sure on the end date for scrappage. If they’re not sure of this then I don’t know how anyone expected potential car buyers to know about it. I fear car dealers have an uphill battle in terms of sales volumes. Enquiries will probably be there but car buyers are probably reluctant to go through with the sale. Instead car buyers are likely to browse brand new vehicles in order to find the best deal or even just to search the market. During a new plate change there is a wide array of choice for consumers. For example car dealers not only sell new and used vehicles but also pre reg cars such as vehicles which have only been driven for a few thousand miles. Usually these vehicles have been used as rental vehicles on the islands around Britain. They’re sold for a few thousand or so less than the brand new equivalent. These cars are usually less than six months old and also include the remaining warranty cover which in most cases is either 3 years or when the car hits a certain mileage limit. This begs the question why bother purchasing a brand new car. Check out your local car dealers today.

When thinking about buying a vehicle, one may believe that it is an impractical thought to have, especially during these hard times. Society is struggling, but there are ways around this and it is still possible to purchase a new car. Before, many people thought it was impossible to get a car loan with bad credit. Having said that, there are ways around this and more and more people are purchasing cars to call their own.

When looking for companies to approve a bad credit car loan, customers do not have to look very far. It is as effortless as typing some keys on the keyboard and conducting a simple online search. Once a potential buyer has found one of these websites the next step would be applying for the car loan. Many sites just require customers to fill out an online application, which can be done in the comfort of one’s home. These websites are typically extremely informative and sometimes even provide other services that allow clients to calculate the potential cost of their loan.

Many of these sites provide a fast response, which is very convenient. Consumers do not have to spend a lot of time waiting to find out if they are approved or not. This is extremely helpful because if a potential buyer is denied, they can simply apply again on another site. Waiting to find out about a car loan can be extremely stressful, because buying a new car is an important time in anyone’s life. Especially if it is their first car.

Many people who have low incomes probably think there is no point in applying for a car loan, however there are loans to fit them as well. Many of these companies will assist people who have low incomes, no credit, and even those who have filed for bankruptcy. All in all, the process is very simple, although to most people buying a car is out of the question. In reality, it is as simple as having a part time job and taking a few minutes to fill out an application. Once a customer has been approved, they meet with a lender and simply pick out their car of choice.

There are many circumstances where a person may have a hard time getting Car Loans in order to buy a newer car.  Sometimes a person may have had a rough start, and that rough start has been reflecting their credit score for a long time, almost too long.  This can be very overwhelming for a person who is trying to bring their credit score up while at the same time replacing their older vehicle with a newer one.  You may be happy to know that there are places you can turn to that will possibly offer you financing for a newer vehicle.

These lenders are trying to help people with bad credit, and even people with little or no credit redeem themselves.  You will usually have to fill out an application for the loan just like any other loan you may want to apply for.  The application will then be processed and the lender will make the decision as to whether or not a loan, or what kind of loan, will be offered to you.  Do not be fearful.  These companies are trying to help you, and will try their best to not deny you a loan.  These loans are often called Bad Credit Car Loans, and they are for people who have bad credit, and because of this, your chances are better than you may think.

You may think that because you have bad credit these loans cannot be for a very large amount.  This is not the case.  A car that is $12,000 is not out of reach.  You will not have to pick out a car that is at the bottom of the barrel at the dealership.  You will be able to pick out a good car.  You may think that this is too good to be true, but believe me, this is true.

These lenders will do their best to make sure that the loan is also very affordable for you when fulfilling your Car Financing needs.  They will want to make sure that you are going to be able to make these payments without worrying about tightening your belt so tight you cannot breathe.

Many people have new car tastes, but used car budgets.  The truth is, that most of the time, a good used car is as good as if not better than a new car.  Why?  Because when you buy a new car, you start with standard features and options then build on upgrades that add to the final price of the new car.  When you buy a used car, you are likely to find one with the features and options you want without paying for the extra upgraded packages.  Sometimes you may even find a special order used car that has even more special options you might want.  While this is true for almost all brands of care, Used Volvo vehicles are one of the best values you will find anywhere.

Volvo has been manufacturing safe, reliable, efficient and attractive state of the art vehicles for several years.  They are leaders in their industry and they take great pride in producing the highest quality vehicles for the car buying consumer.  Over the years, Volvo engineers and designers have paid close attention to the wants and needs of the consumer to introduce the top of the line automobiles money can buy.  New Volvos are quite costly and the average consumer simply cannot afford one.  However, the average consumer can likely afford a late model Used Volvo that has the options they want at a price that fits their household budget.

Most Volvos live almost forever, so mileage is not usually a factor in the performance of a used one, but it does affect the price.  Anytime you buy a new car, it immediately depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot.  Depreciation is determined by many factors including mileage and condition.  Even older model Used Volvo vehicles are a great value since these autos are so tough.  The best place to find great deals right now on used cars is online.  There are special Internet deals that many people are not aware of which gives you the advantage.  If you have wanted a Volvo for its safety and performance, today may be your day. Test-drive a Used Volvo and experience the difference.

Purchasing a car is a major purchase, and therefore, you have to use a dealership that provides you with great service. You will find that even though, cars are made better than they were 20 years ago.  One thing has remained the same; cars continue to need servicing in order to function properly. As long as you own a car, you will have to perform an oil change or other types of car service. Therefore, it is important to have a great car dealers to provide you with exceptional service. Here are some things that you should expect from your auto dealer.

You want to be able to communicate with an individual at the dealership if you have a problem after your automobile purchase.  You should be able to talk to the dealer, if a dealer is not providing good customer service before you purchase the car; you should definitely not purchase a vehicle from them. You want to know they are going to stand by the product, and if the service is bad before the sale, it will be the same after the sale. When you find a dealership that offers your great service, it is a good idea to refer your family and friends to them for service.

A car dealership should honour their promise to the consumer. If they are online, and have, a price listed. The price should remain the same unless so noted on their online site. Parts needed to correct your car problems should be readily available at a car dealer. For Example, if your car need engine work, all the components necessary should be on premises. If the dealership does not have it, they should offer to order it so you can get your auto repair.  There are car dealers that provide you the basic such as oil change, car purchase, financing and repair. You can also find dealers that go that extra mile. They might do this by offering a guaranteed buy back program to their customers. Car dealers that offer this unique program is happy to advise you about the different programs available.
